When it comes to civil liberties, transparency, and justice, the Obama administration has proven itself WORSE than the Bush administration, and that is not hyperbole. Level heads in January and February were hopeful and excited, but tempered that enthusiasm with steady declarations that we need to wait and see what he does before we judge.
The Obama DOJ has asserted, literally, a brand new argument - never before uttered even by the extremists in the Bush administration - that the authority of the Patriot Act extends so far as to protect the government from lawsuits against specifically named officials alleged to have violated the laws by which this nation supposedly defines itself.
In my opinion, with respect to the above parameters of governance, there's no need to suspend one's judgement any longer. The evidence is in.
Those of you who've talked politics with me know that my favorite source and biggest influence is Glenn Greenwald, who covers the whole thing via the link above.

Thanks man. Sorry to be the only downer on this blog, it's definitely become a remote access point for each of our brains' "funny shit" centers. Except mine because I am a humorless tard. Except Kittens. That shit Is hilarious.
The link might take you to his most recent post. While I find all of them to be superb and useful, the one I was commenting on in particular is his second post from April 6th.
It's not a downer to get the truth, Jimbo. Well, in some cases it is. Like this case. Thanks.
But seriously, this article is quite enlightening and pretty depressing, especially since Obama was a CONSTITUTIONAL LAW SCHOLAR!
You know, I gave Obama a pass on the "give the banks a free pass, but rake the car companies over the coals" nonsense; I looked the other way on sending even more troops into the Middle East; and I even planned on giving out more free passes, because I so badly want him to succeed. But, this is horseshit.
